I don’t have an android, but I guess this is a hypothetical question.
If an android was created by humans then it would depend if it was programmed how to act by humans, or if it was genuinely sentient.
If it was just programmed how to act, then it could not have free will, as it’s programming and therefore it’s responses would be actually our will. An interesting though is whether or not something can be programmed to have free will!!!! Can spontaneity be programmed, it depends on your perception.
If it was genuinely sentient then I’m guessing that it’s mind would have evolved in a specific environment. If it’s minds evolution was revolved around it’s own survival, then it could be dangerous for us, as it’s own survival would be more important than ours.
If we constrained it’s evolutionary learning, so that we gave it positive feedback when it was beneficial of kind to humans, and negative feedback when it was harmful or useless to humans, then this would be safe.
But this would mean that the android wouldn’t have complete free will. It would have free will within the constraints of satisfying humans, but not total free will.
The other question that arises, is could it become sentient at all?
This is one of those questions that throws up more questions than answers, but thanks for such a fun question

BF Skinner believed free will was a myth, so really, he would think we’re all androids who can do nothing more than respond to the world around us.
But what IS free will? How would that be defined? Probably in the ability to be reinforced, to feel rewarded by our decisions and our control over them.
The disadvantage to giving something like an android free will would be the nuances of what would reinforce him. What if the android was reinforced by killing babies? Certainly not a pleasant prospect!
Of course, the advantage would be that it could make a [reinforcing] decision on its own without instruction from its creator. It would, however, involve creating a program that would have it be reinforced by the things that are considered “morally good.”
I would not make an android with free will. The android would probably be better at many things (such as stronger) than I am, and would not want it to have more control over my life than me.
disadvantage would be the android might not like you and do things that you might not like. Advantage would be that it would be awesome!
